Trash Fashion – supported by the Chamber of Fashion Malta
Students were inspired to look creatively at objects that are not recyclable, and which would otherwise end up in a landfill. They could choose from items including textiles, rubber, foam and wood-based materials.
The teams were from Sir M A Refalo sixth form, St. Benedict’s College, MCAST Institute for Creative Arts, MCAST Gozo Campus and Verdala International School.
Students imaginatively recycled and re-invented jewellery from rubber tyres and broken ceramics. Items of clothing were made from vegetable sacks, mesh screening, denim and leather amongst other materials. There was even a skirt decorated with coloured pencils.
The winner of the best accessory was won by HAIR DIVAS from MCAST GOZO who created a beautiful hair decoration.

Judges were Nicole Chetcuti and stylist Drew from DIZZ GROUP, Penny Apap Brown, Academic Director of The Chamber of Fashion Malta Foundation and representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Waste Serve.
